Diane McCarthy
Founder & Head Coach

Diane McCarthy is a two-sport collegiate athlete who competed in both basketball and soccer at Madonna University. Her athletic background gives her a rare, multi-dimensional perspective on athletic development, teamwork, and the mental side of competition.

After her playing career, Diane went on to coach at the varsity high school level in both basketball and soccer, and continued coaching at the collegiate level — building a reputation as a technically gifted, player-first coach who develops athletes from the ground up.

She founded TMRO Stars Basketball Academy to give every child — from the youngest toddler to the elite 12-year-old — access to the same quality coaching she received as a competitive athlete.

FAQ

Common Questions

What should my child wear to class?+
TMRO Stars uniform required. Basketball or athletic shoes. No jeans, sandals or boots. All other equipment is provided by TMRO Stars.
Do I need to stay during my child's session?+
For Tiny Stars (18mo–3yrs), parent participation is required. For Mini Stars and above, parents are welcome to watch from our designated viewing area. Coaches maintain full supervision throughout every session.
What if we need to miss a class?+
We offer one complimentary make-up class per month. Email us at least 24 hours in advance and we'll place your child in an available session at the same program level.
Is equipment provided?+
Yes — all balls, cones, and training gear are provided. For Elite Stars athletes, we recommend purchasing a personal size 5 or 6 basketball for at-home practice.
How do I cancel or pause enrollment?+
Email tmrostars@gmail.com before the 1st of the month to cancel or pause. No cancellation fees, no long-term contracts. Billing stops immediately upon confirmation.
Are coaches background-checked?+
Absolutely. All TMRO Stars coaches and staff complete comprehensive background checks, are CPR/First Aid certified, and complete SafeSport training annually. Your child's safety is our top priority.

Refund & Credit Policy

We know schedules can change! That's why our refund policy is designed to give families peace of mind while respecting that classes are reserved in advance and often have waiting lists.

After the 1st Scheduled Class — Full refund minus a $5.00 processing fee

After the 2nd Scheduled Class — Full credit toward a future semester (valid for 12 months)

After the 3rd Scheduled Class — No refunds or credits will be issued

Uniforms & Equipment

Customized apparel: No refunds under any circumstances.

Non-custom uniforms: Refunds only if the uniform has not been customized and has not yet been delivered.

Important: Refund eligibility is based on the date you contact us, not how many classes your child has attended.

Example: If your child misses Week 1 but attends Week 2, a refund request made after Week 2 would qualify for a future credit, not a refund.

Make-Up Classes

For additional cancellations initiated by TMRO Stars, a pro-rated credit will be issued for a future semester (valid for 6 months).
